Don't Know What To Post on Social Media, Try This

I don’t know what to post. I want to be consistent but I don’t know what to talk about? Sound familiar? You’re not alone. I hear this from my clients and team frequently.

So here are some ideas to help you overcome writer’s block and move right into the creative flow zone.

EDUCATE

Did you know one of the most powerful things to share with your network is what you’re learning. This approach will help you standout as an EXPERT even if you feel like you have tons to learn. Let me let you in on a little secret! We all have a ton to learn and the more comfortable you get by sharing where you’re at and what you’re learning, the more trust you build. And trust is a staple of a strong brand. Think of yourself as a tour guide and invite them to take the journey with you.

If something is important enough to write down in your notes, it is good enough to share. These are Learn out loud moments.

Here is what I tell myself. My role is to SERVE the people God has entrusted to me and that includes SERVING them well.  When you serve your audience well, they will come back for more and will also gladly refer you to others. Who doesn’t want more referrals?

If you’re still struggling to come up with ideas to EDUCATE, consider providing a tip that comes natural to you. And before you go down the rabbit hole of thinking you don’t know anything, I’m here to breathe some life into you by saying, sure you do! I know this can be hard because it feels like the tips we know are the same tips everybody knows. But that simply isn’t true. So think about all the things people compliment you about or ask you about and that, my friend is your sweet spot.

Maybe educate about things they could do to organize and balance (grocery shopping online, meal planning, meal prep, amazon prime tips, carpool, how to hire a cook or housekeeper). Have fun giving and serving your people. Helping others is FUN!

EMPOWER

Inspiring your people is POWERFUL. When you create a true emotional bond with your tribe, it helps them believe and even see what’s possible. This is where sharing a story or a personal experience breathes life into your friends and network, generates hope, makes them dream bigger or ultimately shows them what’s possible.

Be the leader you wish you had or that you needed during a hard time. To help me get in this headspace, I imagine that I’m sitting across the table enjoying coffee together and diving head first into a deep chat.

ENTERTAIN

This is where you get to keep things light and entertain your tribe. Sing a song, share your favorite music, or do a live video. Anything and everything goes in this category. The important thing is to keep it light and fun!

ENGAGE

Ditch the one-way dialogue for a two-way conversation. ASK your tribe questions about themselves. Get them talking about themselves. Not only do people LOVE to share about their lives, it will help you learn more about your tribe so you can better SERVE them. It’s a WIN WIN. Give them what they want by providing a space to share what’s on their minds.

Stories makes this easy with polls + question feature!

ENTER MY WORLD

One of my favorite quotes from John Maxwell says, “a leader is one who knows the way, goes the way, and shows the way”. This is where you get to show your tribe what you’re up to! Show what you’re working on, or how you do something your community wants to learn how to do, or even the results of a recent project. Show the things that your community can benefit from seeing, that will help them get closer to their goal! Become a “behind the scenes” expert by showing the details of your day to day life in a way that is thinking about how it might be helpful to people that are working towards things you’ve already accomplished.

This is your chance to SHINE as the amazing EXPERT you are and build trust. It’s time to show up and be seen as a provider of useful, information.
